[edit] Marking a page for deletion

These are instructions on how to request a page for deletion. To find more information on what quick deletions and discussed deletions are, PLEASE READ THIS.

[edit] Discussed deletion

To list one article for discussed deletion, follow these instructions:

I.
Put the deletion tag on the article.
  • Add this tag: {{rfd|REASON}} to the top of the page you think should be deleted but replace REASON with reasons why you think the page should be deleted.
  • Please be sure the edit is not marked as minor.
  • Please use an edit summary such as "nominated for deletion".
  • You can also check the "Watch this page" box to add the page to your watchlist. This allows you to know if the RfD tag is removed by a vandal.
  • Save the page.
II.
List the article on this page.
  • At the top of the article in the RfD box you've just added, there should be a link saying "the discussion". Click this link to open the Discussed deletion requests section of this page.
  • Insert this text:
    {{subst:rfd2 | pg=PageName | reason=Reason}} ~~~~
replacing PageName with the name of the page you think should be deleted and Reason with the reasons why you think the page should be deleted.
  • You should check the "Watch this page" box, which can help you to know what is happening in the debate.
  • Please use an edit summary such as "Creating deletion discussion section for [[PageName]] because ..."
, replacing PageName with the name of the page you think should be deleted and then add the reasons for deletion.
  • Save the page.
III.
Discuss.
  • When discussing with other users, be sure to be kind and not hurtful or insulting.
  • You should also tell the creator and other main contributors that the page has been requested for deletion.
  • Discussed deletion requests usually lasts for five to seven days depending on how many users agree or disagree.

[edit] Quick deletion

If you disagree with its deletion, please explain why on this page's talk page or at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion. Please do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself.

Administrators, remember to check what links here, the page history (last edit), and the page log, before deletion.

If you think a page does not say why the subject is important, add {{notable}} to the top of the page:

[edit] Fast deletion requests

List newer items at the top. It is only necessary to list here under unusual circumstances. Tagging for deletion is sufficient.

[edit] Discussed deletion requests

List newer items at the top. Completed requests are logged at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Log. Articles are normally listed for five to seven days, or until there is enough agreement about what to do.

Only users who are involved with the project should vote. Votes from users with little to no contributions should not be taken into account.

[edit] Quite

I am 'quite' tempted to delete this page, but wanted to get some other comments first. I see it is a BE850 word, but I don't think this article is necessary or even helpful. It is already 'wiktionaried'. Blockinblox - talk 16:27, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
