Jagdstaffel 11, Manfred v. Richthofen

"Die berühmte Jagdstaffel 11 mit Manfred v. Richthofen am Steuer seines "Roten Flugzeuges". Aus dieser Jagdstaffel ist das Jagdgeschwader I, das amtlich den Namen "von Richhofen" führte, hervorgegangen. Während seines einjährigen Bestehens 1917/18 erfocht das Richthofen-Geschwader nicht weniger als 1.000 Siege. Rittmeister von Richthofen, Träger des Ordens Pour le Merite, war mit 25 Jahren Kommandeur des Geschwaders geworden, das an dem Frontabschnitt, wo es eingesetzt wurde, nach einem militärischen Ausspruch den Kampfwert mehrerer Divisionen besass."
