File:Gatun locks showing the "mule" locomotives at work.jpg

Summary

Description
English: The ships are guided along the locks with locomotives called the "mules". Big Panamax ships require 6 mules, 4 to handle the bow and 2 to handle the stern. Here you can see the bow-mules hauling in their steel cables as the ship exits the locks to sail into the Caribbean.

What is Schools Wikipedia?

All five editions of Schools Wikipedia were compiled by SOS Children. SOS Childrens Villages is an international children's charity, providing a good home and loving family to thousands of children who have lost their parents. We also work with communities to help vulnerable families stay together and raise children in the best possible environment. There are many ways to help with SOS Children's Villages.
