Description The approximate territories of dynasties in China. Drawn by Ian Kiu. Derived from China_map.png by Nat.
  • qing Dynasty 1892'
    • Hong Kong Island in 1842 and Kowloon in 1860 were ceded to British Empire rule.
  • Tang Dynasty 700 A.D.
    • Western territories corresponds to the Protectorate General to Pacify the West.
    • Not shown are the Uyghurs, and Khitans, who were also active in Northern China; Tufan Kingdom in the Tibetan Plateau; Nanchao Kingdom in modern day Yunnan and Sichuan.
  • Warring States 350 B.C.
    • The state of Wei(魏) (in magenta red) should not be confused with the smaller state of Wei(衛) (in pink); whose names share the same pronounciation in Standard Mandarin and therefore have identical romanizations.
    • Not shown are the Hung Nou to the north, remnants of the state of Yut in the south, and the clans of Ba and Shu in the southwest.
