- Hola, gracias por darme una mensaje. I want to let you know that I am not a native speaker of Spanish, and I have gotten by errors in the language down to a minimum, but, sadly, they are still there.
- A few things needed help in your message, but you did well:
- Veí que ud. está en la Wikipedia Española también y quiero decirse hola. ¿Como está? Estoy aprendiendo español en mi escuela secundaria, y no lo hablo bien.
- Vi que Ud. está en la Wikipedia española también y quiero decirle "hola." - those are a few mistakes you made, but they aren't serious. Remember that the verb ver in the past preterite is irregular [1], and the 1st person preterite should be vi. Unlike English, you wouldn't have to capitalize "española," nor with any days, months or any other nationality or language - remember to do that with proper nouns (i.e. "Juan," "Argentina," "España.") Concerning decirse - right here you are saying to say [to oneself]. Your goal is to say to say to you. So you would use le.
- You could save a lot of trouble by just using the verb saludar (to greet) rather than "decir hola."
- Overall, I think you are getting a pretty good command of the language. About this time a year ago I spoke broken Spanish and worse problems with the grammar :-) Now I am tutoring it, so I think all should go well. There are several places on the internet for Spanish help, including this translation service (which isn't the best). Also, take a look at direct and indirect object pronouns to peek in on the most dreaded part of Spanish (i.e. learning when to use le vs. lo and what te means).
- Other than the above, I think that you'll master the language easily considering the other ones you speak, i.e. Russian, which I am afraid to take (but I may have to), considering its noun diclension and hardness, and English, which is by far one of the hardest languages to learn. - Heh. Thanks a lot. I've been learning Spanish since mid 7th grade, and now I'm in 9th grade in high school level spanish 2. I know the things about ver being irregular in the past tense and the pornouns, but I tend to make mistakes when typing on the internet :(. At the moment I know the Present (hablo), Preterite (hablé), present perfect (he hablado), Imperfect (hablaba), Plufperfect (había hablado), present progressive (estoy hablando) and Imperative (hable!), although by our curriculum I should only know the present, preterite, imperfect, and present progressive (obviously I take some of my own initiative) :P
