P.S. many of the sysops (admistradores) know English, even though we prefer and encourage the use of Spanish has the medium of communication.

Hello and welcome to the Spanish Wikipedia. Well, it seems like we both were translating Forest of the Departed into Spanish at the same time. I was going to keep your version when I spotted a few errors, like "la bosque" (bosque is masculine), "dicieron" (the verb decir is irregular, and the correct form is "dijeron") and "Ministre Extraño" (I suppose you meant Minister of Foreign Affairs, which is "Ministro de Exteriores"), among others. So I decided to overwrite your version, though I left the list of people who went to the ceremony basically intact. Wikipedia can be a good place to practice languages. BTW, "college student" is "estudiante universitario" or just "universitario". In Spanish "colegio" often refers to primary schools.

Hello Jason, the image you uploaded yesterday Imagen:Forest of the Departed.jpg, cannot be used in Wikipedia because it belongs to the newspaper and to the photographer who took it. The terms and conditions in that newspaper prohibits to use its content. In general, you cannot upload images to wikipedia unless they come from websites in public domain or they are taken by you, in that case you can license them with dominio público {{PD}} or GFDL {{GFDL}}. You can also bring images from other wikipedias provided they have those same licenses. Cheers --Anna 01:47 13 mar, 2005 (CET)

Hola el motivo de que te escriba es para invitarte a categorizar tu pagina de usuario dentro de la Categoría:Wikipedia:Wikipedistas de Estados Unidos y posteriormente borrarlo de la lista equivalente. Recuerda que puedes categorizar tu pagina en mas de una ej. pais de origen, pais de residencia.

Hello JB82,
I came across your user-name at the en.wikipedia. I cannot remember the article. I was impressed that you listed yourself as proficient in so many languages; my curiosity took me to your es.wikipedia user page. There I found your announcement for "Servicios de traducción" which I copy below.

Please do not take it as an insult or as a put down, but this short paragraph is written in a very poor Spanish. I list the most important mistakes and then a rewording of your text. It is easier to read and speak a foreign language than to write it. You probably understand quite well every text written in Spanish be it a poem, a song, a joke, a novel, a textbook, a scientific or literary piece, etc. That does not mean that you can translate those words into your own language or viceversa, take English texts and translate them into Spanish. I fail to see any evidence of your capacities "to think in Spanish"; truly, your text seems to be thought in English first and then translated word by word into Spanish.

What I have said should not stop you from writing articles or parts of articles in Spanish or those other languages different from English that you know. There is always a chance that some native, not necessarily bilingual, wikipedian can fix the sauce while leaving the dish intact, if you know what I mean. This has happened to me quite a few times, I lived -and studied- in Germany for three years, I can read and understand just about any modern German text, but my written skills are limited; however, once in a while I write, in the de.wikipedia, a stub, or complement an article with a short paragraph or add a couple of sentences and allways somebody has fixed my mistakes.

Once again, take as a favour from a fellow wikipedian and do not feel offended. Write your own articles in Spanish but do not take, not yet anyway, the burden of translation. Surely you need much more praxis. vale, Lcgarcia
