L'Arc~en~Ciel

L'Arc~en~Ciel (ラルクアンシエル), também conhecida como Laruku (ラルク), é uma popular banda de rock japonesa que consiste em quatro integrantes. O nome L'Arc en Ciel significa O arco-íris, em francês.

A banda já teve diversas participações em animes. "the Fourth Avenue Cafe" foi usada como canção de encerramento de Rurouni Kenshin; "Blurry Eyes" como a abertura de DNA²; 虹 (Niji) como a música tema do longa de Rurouni Kenshin; "READY STEADY GO", como a segunda abertura de Fullmetal Alchemist e "Driver's High" como primeira abertura de GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka).

O L'Arc começou as suas atividades em 1991, com o vocalista Hyde, o guitarrista Hiro, o baixista Tetsu e o baterista Pero, em Osaka. No início o grupo apostava no Visual Shock, estilo de se vestir andrógino e carregado em maquiagem, bastante comum no oriente e inspirado no movimento glam britânico e norte-americano. Outra curiosidade está na grafia em minúsculo no nome de seus integrantes.

Em 1992, o guitarrista hiro foi substituido por um amigo de tetsu, Ken. O músico abandonou a faculdade de arquitetura em Nagoya para se dedicar exclusivamente ao L’Arc~en~Ciel. Com a nova formação, a banda teve uma faixa gravada em uma coletânea chamada Gimmick, que ajudou a impulsionar o lançamento do primeiro single, Flood of Tears.

Antes da virada do ano, no dia 30 de dezembro, o L'Arc~en~Ciel sofreu com mais uma baixa : o baterista pero deixou o grupo depois de um show no Osaka Music Hall. Em busca de um substituto, tetsu foi até a capital japonesa, Tóquio, buscar Sakura. O primeiro album da banda foi lançado em 1993: Dune, alcançou o primeiro lugar de artistas independentes da Oricon, algo como a Billboard japonesa.

Correndo para o sucesso, o quarteto escolheu se mudar para Tóquio e lá ganhou o status de major, em 1994, quando a Sony lançou o álbum Tierra. A grande surpresa para o L’Arc~en~Ciel foi o disco True, de 1996. O CD chegou a vender um milhão de cópias.

Em 1997, o baterista Sakura foi preso por porte de droga. Sem um substituto, o L’Arc cancelou o lançamento do single The Fourth Avenue Cafe e, por consequência, teve uma música desse trabalho retirada da trilha sonora do anime Samurai X. O novo baterista chamado Yukihiro, veio de um grupo chamado Die in Cries e já entrou no L'Arc~en~Ciel gravando um disco ao vivo, Reincarnation 97, Live in Tokyo Dome, de 1997.

Após esse recomeço, a banda foi reconquistando os fãs e fazendo novos álbuns, ganhando prêmios e sendo reconhecida mas mudialmente, com diversos shows em outros países da Ásia. Vieram os álbuns gêmeos: Ark e Ray, sendo lançados ao mesmo tempo, depois o Real em 2000. Depois do Real, a banda entrou em um intervalo de aproximadamente 2 anos.

Durante esse período os intregrantes trabalharam em suas carreiras solos: Hyde (Hyde[ist]), Ken (Sons Of All Pusy), Tetsu (Tetsu69) e Yukihiro (Acid Android). Em 2003 para celebrar seu retorno, foram feitos 7 shows em shibuya, e durante os shows, foi anunciando o retorno definitivo: o album SMILE.

Com músicas mais ocidentalizadas e algumas letras em inglês, acabam por estourar mais uma vez na mídia e reconquistar os fãs. Fizeram a SMILE TOUR por todo o Japão, e um show inédito nos Estados Unidos ainda nesta turnê.

Em 2005 lançaram o álbum AWAKE, inovando mais uma vez e seguindo um pouco da linha de seu antecessor. A turnê percorreu todo o Japão e também a Asia, com a mega-turnê ASIALIVE, passando pela Korea, China e encerrando no Tokyo Dome, no Japão.

Em 2006, a banda comemora, de julho a agosto, o aniverssário de 15 anos no L'Arcafe. Nessa mesma época, relançaram os 15 primeiros singles, de Blurry Eyes a Forbidden Lover, com outro formato de capa. Dentre os 15 estava incluso o single The Fourth Avenue Cafe que nunca tinha sido lançado.
